Itinerary
Upon arrival at the airport in Kigali, you will be received by our company representative who will then transfer you to your hotel in Kigali for you to relax. Dinner and Overnight.
After an early morning breakfast at your hotel, you will checkout of your hotel and embark on your transfer to Nyungwe forest with lunch en-route and a stopover to visit the ancient King’s palace at Nyanza and proceed to the park and upon arrival check-in to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
After an early morning breakfast, you will be taken to the park offices for the briefing about the does and don’ts during the tracking of the primates after which proceed into the tropical rain forest searching for the shy chimpanzees in the tree branches. While on this walk expect to spot other primates like the white and black Columbus, Vervet monkeys, red tailed monkeys and manageably. More birds can be spotted too in the Nyungwe National park, You will spend a maximum of an hour with these chimpanzees once spotted and then return to lodge for lunch. In the evening take the canopy walk looking for primates, birds and the clear of the green canopy cover. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
After breakfast checkout of your lodge and embark on your transfer to Gisenyi. Gisenyi is one of Rwanda's loveliest spots and the closest the country has to a beach resort. You will enjoy a picturesque 6-hour drive coming as close as possible to the shores of Lake Kivu on many points. While in Gisenyi, you will check in and rest at your accommodation. In the evening, you will have a boat ride with local fishermen on Lake Kivu. You will cast nets with them and learn about the fish of Lake Kivu. You will return to your accommodation in the evening.
After your breakfast while in Gisenyi, you may choose to do any of the following optional activities; kayaking, biking, tour of fishing villages, or tour of Gisenyi town. All these tours can be booked on short notice while you are at the lodge. Alternatively, you may choose to relax all day at your hotel.
After breakfast, you will checkout your hotel to embark on your transfer to Volcanoes National Park. You will enjoy the spectacular views of hills and misty valleys on your way. Situated in the far northwest of Rwanda, Volcanoes National Park protects the steep slopes of this magnificent mountain range, home of the endangered mountain gorillas. You will check into your accommodation in the afternoon. In the evening, you will visit the Iby’Iwachu cultural centre where you will have more experience with Rwandese culture and traditional dances.
After an early morning breakfast, we proceed to the park offices for a briefing on the does and don’ts for the Golden monkey trekking and later proceed to the volcanoes to have an encounter with the amazing primates and once you sight them you will be allowed to spend an hour with them before you embark on your return to re-unite with your guide. You will head back to your lodge for lunch and relax and later in the evening visit the Dian Fossey museum. Dinner and overnight.
In the morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to Akagera National Park for wildlife viewing. This is the only park in Rwanda where you can do a game drive and view
savannah-based wild animals. Upon arrival and clearance, you will enter the park and have a game drive to your accommodation. You may be able to spot various animals along the way, predominantly antelopes, buffalos, and monkeys.
Early in the morning after breakfast, you will embark on a game drive in Akagera National Park. The largely open expanse is ideal for game viewing. Sightings of buffalos, elephants, antelopes, zebras, giraffes, baboons, monkeys, and an incredible 490 bird species are possible. You may also spot members of the lion pride in Akagera. A boat trip on Lake Ihema is also a highlight of any visit to Akagera, with its large pods of hippos, Nile crocodiles, and abundant waterbirds on the island in the middle of the lake.
In the morning after breakfast, check out of your lodge and embark on your transfer to Kigali city. You will enjoy the countryside views along the way and you may stop for landscape photography or to interact with local communities along the way. In Kigali, you will have a guided city tour to explore the landmarks of the history of this budding capital. You will visit the Rwanda Genocide Memorial Museum in Gisozi. You will also visit local fresh produce markets and local crafts to purchase souvenirs. In the evening, you will be transferred to Kigali Airport for your international flight to your next destination or be dropped off at your hotel in Kigali depending on your program.
