4 Day Mgahinga Gorilla and Golden Monkey Trekking Experience

After an early breakfast at your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala, you will be picked up by our company representative who will be your driver guide on this trip who will brief you about your trip and later hit the road to embark on your transfer to Mgahinga National Park in the south western part of the country. This drive is a long one and will take around 10hours to get to the park. You will have a stopover at the Equator where you will have an opportunity to stand in 2 hemispheres at the same time and take some photos. You will make another stopover for lunch en-route before continuing with your journey to Mgahinga arriving in the evening check into your lodge. Dinner and overnight.

Note: You can choose to Fly from Entebbe to Kisoro instead of the long drive and you will meet with our company driver guide at the airstrip. The flight takes 1hr 15mins to fly from Entebbe to Kisoro and the drive to the park from the airstrip will take not more than an hour.

You will have an early morning breakfast and move to the Park headquarters to join other trackers in a briefing about the gorilla trekking rules. You will then trek through thick creepers and undergrowth with your guides to find the Gorillas, which can take you 1-8 hours. The steeply forested landscape is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access by tourists. You will have one hour to stay with the Gorillas once sited and later return to reunite with your driver guide who will drive you back to your lodge for lunch and relax.
Later in the evening, you will go for a Batwa cultural walk experience before you return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Note: If you would like to spend more time with the gorillas we advise you instead book the Gorilla Habituation Experience where you get to spend more than just an hour with the gorillas.

After an early breakfast at your lodge, you will proceed to the park offices for a briefing about the does and don'ts during the experience and later allocate groups with rangers who guide you through the forest as you search for the golden monkeys and once sighted, you will be allowed an hour with them before you emabrk on your return to reunite with your guide who will then transfer you to your lodge for a relaxed lunch. You can spend the rest of the evening relaxing at your lodge on this day.
And if you opted for a gorilla habituation experience on day 2, you can have the Batwa cultural experience in the evening. Dinner and Overnight.

Wake up early in the morning, have your breakfast and checkout of your lodge to transfer back to Kampala with lunch en-route. Then proceed to Entebbe Airport where you will catch your flight back home or be dropped off at your hotel depending on your program.
