Itinerary

Early in the morning we will pick you up in your hotel and drive to Mikumi National Park.
Mikumi National Park is one of the southern national parks and Tanzania's fourth-biggest park. It is just a couple of hours drive from Tanzania's biggest city
Dar-es-Salaam and borders Selous Game Reserve. Its abundant wildlife draws frequent comparisons to the famous Serengeti. We will have lunch on the way to Mikumi and arrive in the park around afternoon for a half day game drive. Later check-in at your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Today you can enjoy a half day game drive. We will start early in the morning, have our lunch boxes with us and make some rest somewhere in the park. En route game drive and transfer to Dar-es-Salaam.

Wildlife in Mikumi National Park.
The park has a great variety of animals and most visitors come to this National Park aiming to spot the ‘Big Five’ – cheetah, lion, elephant, buffalo and rhino. Also hippos live in a pair of mud pools and are one of the highlights.
Lions overlook their grassy kingdom, which is traversed by herds of zebra, wildebeest, impala and buffalo. Giraffes forage in the isolated acacia stands on the edge of the Mkata River, and shady islets are also favored by Mikumi elephants. Mkata Foodplain is perhaps the most reliable place in Tanzania to see the mighty eland, the largest antelope in the world. The equally impressive great kudu and sable antelope stay in the miombo-covered foothills that rise up on the borders of Mikumi.

Birds in Mikumi
Mikumi is a good place for bird lovers as it is home to more than 400 different species of birds! The Mkata River offers majestic views of fishing Open-billed Storks. Marabou stork, Red-billed oxpeckers, Black-bellied bustard, Francolin, Cattle egret, Guineafowls, Hornbill and Malachite Kingfischer are common birds in Mikumi
